Go Nagai is the writer &
illustrator responsible for many classic Japanese comics & trends. The story of
Devilman revolves around high school student Akira Fudo, who merges with a demon and uses
his new demon form to fight other demons and keep them from overtaking our world.
This particular catcher toy is from the 1992 "Go Nagai" series, which featured Devilman characters and other Go creations, such as Mazinger Z. All of the toys I've seen from this series are in a flying pose. Click here to see Devilman nemesis Silene.
