Di Gi Charat

Updated 03/17/2002

Introduction:

Once upon a time, DiGi Charat was just a cute mascot for a game and anime shop called Gamers. The character became so popular that a line of DiGi Charat products followed, and in 1999, the first series of quick, five minute animated episodes appeared. The shorts were aired during shows sponsored by Gamers. From what I've heard, the clips are almost too cute, and to last any longer than five minutes would have been too much. Well, all I can say is, the plushes look great.

The first DiGi Charat catcher goods were badges and handkerchiefs, which were made by Banpresto in 2000. Sega has since picked up the license, and released the first plush set in 2001. The toys shown below were made by Sega.

Rabi-en-Rose Di Gi Charat Petit Charat Pyacola Analogue III
dgc-5.jpg (10253 bytes) The sizes vary between each plush character. At 11", Rabi-en-Rose is the tallest. DiGi is almost 9", Petit Charat is 8", Pyacola is nearly 10", and Gema is abou 5 & 1/2" tall. The prototypes had colored pupils, but the toys that were actually distributed have black pupils. Quite unusual. While these are very nice, I can't help but wish they looked more like the original design.

They may looks simlar, but these are much bigger than the first plushes! These large plushes are all in sitting positions.  Rabi-en-Rose is 12 & 1/2". DiGi is about 12", Petit Charat is just under 9", and Pyacola is about 12" tall. Excellent quality and very cute. This is the complete set of 4.
