Godzilla
Updated 8/30/2001
Introduction:
There've been a good number of Godzilla series produced over
the years. Some series contained repetitive variations of Godzilla in different
colors, other series featured Godzilla and his monster foes, like Ghidrah and
Mothra. All of the following toys were produced by Banpresto.

Plush Series One |
 |
 |
 |
| The
first ever series of Godzilla plush catcher toys were from June of 1991.
I'd suspected it before, but now I have proof. Many of the first catcher
toy sets were produced in two forms - regular plush and fuzzy plush. The
first pic has the regular plush Godzilla. The second pic shows both
variations of Minya, aka Son of Godzilla. The fuzzy plush Ghidra is seen
in pic 3. The Mothra larvae was also part of this set. |
 |
The second Godzilla
plush set (July, 1992) consisted of the same Godzilla figure in different
colors. All were made of a parachute-type nylon material. The available colors were
dark green, light green, orange, blue & pink. I thought the "same
toy, different colors" ploy was lame, but they did it again with fuzzy
plush Godzillas in 1993. |

1994 |
Godzilla Squeak Toy Hammer -
When you
bash someone on the head with this hammer, it squeaks. These were quite
popular in Japan a few years back. The plush Godzilla measures about 5 inches
tall. There are five in the set, including another, smiling Godzilla, Mecha-Godzilla,
Ghidra & Rodan. |
 |
This 1994 Godzilla plush had wires in his
arms and tail, making him somewhat poseable. Others in the series included
Mothra larvae, Ghidra, Rodan & Space Godzilla. |

 |
1995 |
These
items come from a set of home items
featuring Godzilla characters. The foot could be used for a table or chair
leg, the Godzilla head is a doorknob cover, and the Mothra larvae holds your
curtains! |
 |
1995 |
Rodan Bear -
This itty-bitty
cutesy-wutesy
keychain is a 3 & 1/2 inch plush bear in a Rodan costume. Others in the
series include Godzilla, Minya, Mecha-Godzilla & Mothra. |
 |
1996 |
Plush Clocks -
This set consisted of
plush toys with working clocks in their bellies. There were 6 in the set, and
it was a great assortment of characters. There were two different versions of
Godzilla, plus Mecha-Godzilla, Mecha King Ghidorah (pictured here),
Space Godzilla and Destroyah. |
 |
1998 |
A
deluxe Godzilla plush, which measures about 11 inches tall. |
 |
 |
 |
| January,
1999 - Three variations of the Big G, all with a
"scaly" skin. Regular Godzilla, Fire Godzilla and the new
"Hollywood" Godzilla. |
 |
Godzilla & Mecha Godzilla DX - 1999 -
Measuring close to 12 inches tall, these are great additions
to the DX collection. There are just these two in the set. |
