Inu Yasha

Updated 05/11/2002

Introduction:

This excellent manga-turned-anime series has already begun to catch on in America, and it's popularity is sure to keep growing. It's the most recent anime by famed creator Rumiko Takahashi, who also created the popular Ranma 1/2. The story centers around a 15 year old girl named Kagome, who is pulled back in time to fuedal Japan, where she discovers and frees the half-human, half-demon Inu Yasha, then finds that he's not exactly one of the good guys. Kagome unknowingly possesses the "Shikon no Tama" (Jewel of 4 Souls), a family heirloom, so to speak, which can increase the powers of it's owner. When the jewel is accidentally shattered, the shards spread out across the land. Kagome and Inu Yasha reluctantly join together to find the pieces.

2001 was a full year for catcher toy items, and 2002 should be just as active. Expect to see many more catcher toys based on this series, including SD keychains, more figurines, and yes, MORE PLUSHES! Unless stated otherwise, the following toys were produced by Banpresto.

Inu Yasha DX Plush - 2001

In 2001, Banpresto began making extra large DX plushes for their most popular series. In each instance, these has been just one extra large 15" plush character per series.

Lottery Plush Prizes - 2001

Every so often, Banpresto distributes plush prizes through a raffle system, with different prize levels that can be won. There were 5 standard sized plushes which measure just over 6" tall. There were two larger, rarer plushes, including a 14" Kagome that matches up with the DX Inu Yasha! While it's impossible to say for sure, these will likely be the rarest of the Inu Yasha plushes.
