Moomin

Updated 03/10/2002

Introduction:

The Moomin phenomena first began with a series of childrens books published in the 1950's in Finland. The creator, Tove Jannson (1914-2001), created a fantasy world about a family of moomintrolls who live in the forests of Finland. Some animation exists, but I don't know if it was a full series, or just a few animated specials. Banpresto has produced a few Moomin catcher toy items over the years, and still releases a new set once a year or so. As I continue to photograph my collection, I should be adding a few more examples in the future. The following toys were made by Banpresto.

This lovely DX plush Moomin is 1 from a set of 2. The other was a yellow, female Moomintroll. Moomin stands nearly 11" tall, has plastic eyes and has a very soft, silky texture.
