Pingu

Updated 03/20/2002

Introduction:

Pingu is a somewhat naughty, charming and endearing little Penguin who is the star of a series of short animated films that originated in Switzerland in 1986. Since that time, Pingu has gained worldwide attention, most notably in England and Japan. Pingu lives with his family on the polar ice cap of the South Pole. His family includes his mother, his father (a postman) and his little sister Pinga.

Pingu catcher toys have been produced sporadically over the last few years. I'm unsure how many there are, but I'll try and do some reseach on that. All of the following toys were made by Banpresto.

The set of 3 features Pingu baking. These plushes have an unusual fine-loop texture. The eyes are plastic, as are the accessories they are holding. The standing Pingu measures about 9" tall. Sitting Pingu is 8 & 1/2, Pinga is 7".
