Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon

 aka "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon"

Updated 05/07/2002

Introduction:

Sailor Moon is one of Banpresto's most extensive collections, with well over 300 different toys, trinkets and other assorted prize toys produced between 1993 and 1996. My interest in catcher toys stemmed from my original hobby of collecting Sailor Moon toys back in the mid-'90s. Considering the number of toys Banpresto produced for this series, there was a constant effort to come up with something new and fresh, that would keep consumers plunking coins into their game machines.

Sailor Moon recently enjoyed a resurgence of interest in Japan, with new lines of merchandise hitting toy stores in 2001. Banpresto joined in on this as well, creating two new plush sets, including the large set seen below. I'm starting this page with the latest set, and will be adding lots and lots of the older toys soon. All of the following toys were made by Banpresto.

There were 11 plush dolls in the first series. The average size is 8 inches tall. This set is one of my favorite series', but one of the toughest to complete. I've heard from two Japanese sources that certain characters were available in limited numbers.

For this, the third series of Sailormoon plushes, the girls are featured in their school uniforms. Usagi holds a test, Makoto holds her lunch sack, and new character Chibi-usa is holding the Luna-P. (This happens to be the first Chibi-usa UFO plush.) The first two in the set, Sailormoon and Tuxedo Mask, were not superdeformed.
