Introduction:
Sailor Moon is one of Banpresto's most extensive collections, with well over 300 different toys, trinkets and other assorted prize toys produced between 1993 & 1996. Collecting Sailor Moon merchandise is what really opened my eyes to the quality and integrity of the Banpresto toys. Considering the sheer number of the toys produced for this anime series, Banpresto made many efforts to come up with something new, something fresh, that would keep consumers plunking coins into their machines.
On every plush doll, you'll find a small, white copyright tag which has the Banpresto logo, the year produced, the series logo and an ID number. There were 19 different series of Sailor Moon toys that used the same ID code of BSM-#. The numbers start with BSM-1 in the first series and end with BSM-126 in the last.
Series One
Sailor Moon
Originally Available: April 1993
Average Size: 8 inches
11 plush toys in the series, all of which are shown here. This set is one of my favorite series, but one of the toughest to complete. I've heard from two different Japanese sources that certain characters were available in limited numbers.
