The Banpresto Ultraman Gallery

Updated 7/28/2001

Introduction:

Banpresto produced their highest output of Ultraman toys during these two years, most of them commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the original Ultraman series, including series' of 102 monsters and 32 Ultra-heroes. Since the 30th Anniversary collection is so extensive, I've kept them on their own page. This page will deal with the Ultraman toys that were not part of the 30th Anniversary collection.

There were many more gimmick sets this year, including backpacks, little plush keychains, teddy bears wearing Ultraman sweatshirts, watches, bathtub accessories, car accessories, little teddy bear keychains wearing Ultraman and monster suits, plush babies wearing Ultraman and monster suits, pencil toppers, motion detectors, speakers, t-shirts and more. I don't have too many of the toys from this period, but I hope to add more in the future.

10/1996 - Ultraman Tiga: The first full size Tiga set consisted of three variations of Tiga, 2 of which can be seen here.

tg-6.jpg (22575 bytes) Oct, 1996 Ultraman Tiga Keychain - There were six in this set of key chains. 3 were little stuffed toys & 3 were PVC figures. Each measured about 4 inches. This is the only one I've got from the series.
ultra-md.jpg (28969 bytes) Nov, 1996 Motion Detectors - These battery operated figurines have a sensor in the front, and when you walk by, they let out a monstrous roar. There was also an Ultraseven in the set.
uk-set.jpg (63399 bytes) Nov, 1996 Ultraman Kids Keychains - 8 plush keychains based on characters from the animated series. Ultraboy, Ultragirl Pika, Ultraseven, Taro, Baltan, Alien Guts, Eleking & Garamon.
ultraplush.jpg (42471 bytes) 1996 Ultraman Plush - This pair is unusual, in that they do not have the standard id numbers on their tags. I've seen this before with toys that were not used for crane games, but with other promotions, such as raffles. The smaller one measures about 9" tall, the larger one is over 10".
