Introduction:

You would think Banpresto might have slowed down after the 30th Anniversary Collection, but they didn't. New Ultraman catcher toys have appeared on a regular basis, and new toys are planned throughout the year 2001!

** The following toys are here for display purposes, and are not for sale. **

1997 - 2000

uh-10_2.jpg (41943 bytes) July 1997  This Ultraman Tiga comes from a set of 3 plush toys. The other characters in the set were the original Ultraman and Ultraman Zearth.
75241bc.jpg (62000 bytes) Oct, 1997 Two toys from the first Ultraman Dyna set. Dyna had three forms he could transform into. In his "Miracle" form, he could fly. His "Strong" form had more strength. His regular form was known as "Flash" type. The full set consisted of 3 plush toys and 3 plastic figurine keychains.

Zearth 2 - 4/97 - The Ultra characters from this set have plastic helmets. On the right is Digital Kanegon. This updated version of the lovable money-eating monster works at a gas station, and can accept credit cards! So far, Ultraman Zearth has appeared in two feature films, and for those who aren't familiar with them, the movies are parodies of the genre. Zearth can't stand to get dirty, and he's the first Ultra hero to be seen washing his hands in a waterfall following a battle.

75449.jpg (37456 bytes) June, 1998 Ultraman DX - The DX line is a larger line of plush toys and figurines. This particular one measures about 12 inches tall. It was released as a single DX toy, and not part of a series.
75419b.jpg (34530 bytes) Aug, 1998 Water Pistols - There were 3 water pistols modeled after the guns used in various Ultraman series. Here is one example.
75545.jpg (46105 bytes) 1999 Sunglasses - Packaged in triangular boxes, Banpresto produced 5 styles of sunglasses based on the Ultraman heroes. The Ultraman and Ultra 7 styles are shown here.
75574ad.jpg (59958 bytes)

Ultraman Gaia - 3/1999 - This set of 4 includes the two of the more current Ultramen and also the two oldest. In 1999, Ultraman Gaia was on the air in Japan, and the show also featured Ultraman Agul. On the right, you'll see the two classic Ultra heroes, Ultraseven and the original Ultraman.

75638.jpg (55063 bytes) 1999 Ultraman Action Key Holder Set. These figures each have a lever on their back, which changes the position of their arms. For the Ultramen characters, they move into an attack pose. For Booska, he raises his bowl of ramen noodles to eat!
75693.jpg (42058 bytes) 1999 Ultraman, Gaia & Tiga. These toys are larger than the average plush catcher toys, and are closer in size to the DX Ultraman!
75705.jpg (61742 bytes) 1999 Ultraman Key Holder Set 1 - These two inch figurines have a sturdy keyring attached, and are very well made. This is the complete set of 7, which includes Ultraman, Ultraseven, Gaia, Tiga, one Kaiju and even a Booska!
75717.jpg (82685 bytes) 1999 Ultraman Figure Collection - These excellent non-posable figurines have a lot of detail and each comes with a base for display. They measure about 5 & 1/2 inches tall. The set includes the original Ultraman, Ultraman Zoffy, a Baltan, Z-ton & another foe. The complete set of 5 is shown.
75753a.jpg (38978 bytes)

DX Transformable Plushes - 1999 - Unzip the zipper in the back, fold it inside out, and this large 12" Ultraman plush becomes a giant Beta Capsule! (Hayata used the Beta Capsule to call, or transform into Ultraman.) Unzip the zipper in Kanegon's mouth, fold him inside out, and you've got a giant plush coin! (Kanegon is a friendly monster who eats money.)

75753b.jpg (60239 bytes)

75789.jpg (76002 bytes) 1999 Ultraman Key Holder Set 2 - Here's a second set of two inch figurine key chains. This is the complete set of 7, which includes Ultraseven, Ultraman Taro, Ace, Micarasu and Eleking.
75819d.jpg (20745 bytes) 1999 This Pigmon comes from an unusual set of plushes that could be used as hand puppets, or as carry bags. The opening at the bottom has a zipper. Others in the set included Ultraman, Kanegon and Booska.
75840a.jpg (65782 bytes)

DX Battle Plushes - 1999 - There were 2 in this series, which are about 11 inches tall. The first features Ultraman gaining an advantage over his alien Baltan foe. The second is one of my personal favorite  Ultraman catcher toys, and features Ultra 7 vs Eleking. Ultra 7 may look like he's on top of the situation, but you can see by the look on his face (and Eleking's tail wrapped around him) that he's not exactly in control!

75958a.jpg (37670 bytes) 75958b.jpg (37790 bytes) 75958c.jpg (37089 bytes)
This new set of 3 is based on an Ultraman Tiga feature film. These unique plushes have plastic eyes and poseable arms! The third plush is of a brand new Ultra character, Ultraman Nice. These were available in 2000.
71380.jpg (42560 bytes) 2000 This set of 3 consists of the original Ultraman, Ultraman Tiga and Ultraman Dyna. The fabric for the eyes glows in the dark. These plushes measure between 8 and 9 inches tall.
